AN INSURER YOU CAN DEPEND ON
The
ISN GLOBAL CARE Policy is underwritten by one of the largest and most
secure insurers in the world, American Home Assurance Company Limited
ABN 67 007 483267, which is a Member Insurance Company of American
International Group (AIG).
Who is AIG?
The American
International Group (AIG) operates through more than 50 insurance
companies and 200 agencies and services companies in over 130 countries
and jurisdictions around the globe. Employing some 48,000 people, AIG is
one of the world's leading international insurance companies, with
assets of over AUD$350 billion.
Credit Rating
AIG holds the highest ratings from the principal rating services:
The
Call Australia Service is designed to provide a complete personal
administration support program for expatriates. It specialises in all of
the personnel areas, which are not generally the responsibility of the
Human Resources function of the company that the expatriate may work
for.
Call
Australia Service provides a significant support to the HR Managers by
carrying out all non-company functions and allowing the particular HR
manager to concentrate on core business and actual expatriate issues.
Call
Australia Service also provides significant support to the expatriate in
addition to family and friends. Many
expatriates do not have a lawyer, financial adviser, tax adviser and so
on, when they go overseas. There
may be occasions when services like these are needed from abroad and
using family or friends is not appropriate.
There
are also many requests, which are not company related and, where the
expatriate needs a central point of call in Australia for the provision
of services.
For services, which
are a straight referral, no fee is charged to the expatriate.
Where ISN carries out a direct task e.g. Purchasing, and sending
particular items, ISN charge the costs and AUD$50 per hour for the
service. All costs and fees
for these services are quoted in advance and subject to client approval.
In
essence, Call Australia Service
is a complete back up service for expatriates and company managers for
any request. Listed below are the main areas covered by the service but
essentially, all requests will be addressed.

5. Kidnap And Ransom
Doing
business abroad has its rewards and risks. Kidnapping, Extortion,
hijacking, wrongful detention and sabotage and terrorism are today
commonplace events.
The
number of Australians kidnapped, hijacked or wrongfully detained has
recently increased alarmingly. Increases in crimes of abduction and
extortion reflect a global trend resulting from growing instability in
many areas of the world.
Faced
with all of the above, corporations have a moral and legal
responsibility to protect their employees as far as possible.
Corporations
can best do this in two ways:
1)
Country risk and travel information and security awareness for
employees resident in or traveling to medium to high-risk countries, in
conjunction with the development of realistic crisis management plans.
ISN
has the expertise to advise on these issues.
2) Kidnap
and Ransom and extortion insurance, including hijack and wrongful
detention (KRE)

It would be prohibitively expensive to cover
everybody for all medical conditions whilst seconded overseas.
To enable us to keep your premiums as low as possible
we have incorporated some exclusions. These are listed in full on page 4
of the policy document.
The
ISN facility is designed to cover expenses for both necessary and
routine medical treatment there are however certain medical conditions
and treatments, which are not covered under the facility such as
Cosmetic surgery, Infertility treatment, Sterilisation, Insanity etc. We
do not cover pre-existing illnesses or known medical conditions which
have been treated or of which you were aware in the twelve months
preceding enrolment with the following exception:
·
Expatriates
and their families who have compulsory pre-travel medicals in HSA
clinics, in order that pre-existing conditions can be underwritten at
time of application.
·
Groups
of 50 or more expatriates have the benefit of automatic acceptance,
subject to provision of health declaration.
Important
note re: Pre- Existing conditions
After
a period of twelve months of insurance with no recurrence, that
pre-existing medical or related condition may be eligible for cover
under the ISN facility.

WAR
RISK - IMPORTANT NOTICE
We
are frequently asked to explain how the ISN policy responds to war,
invasion, civil war and terrorist’s acts.
There
are some significant differences under the ISN/AIG expatriate policy,
which are normally excluded from most other policies.
Under
general exclusions of the ISN Global Care policy claims are excluded
directly or indirectly arising out of: “any consequence of war,
invasion, and civil war”, whereby
·
War
is
defined as “any armed hostile action between two or more
nations-states, whether such war is “declared” or not.
·
Invasion
is
defined as one nation -state taking by military force the territory of
another nation-state
·
Civil war
is
defined as any armed hostile action between military or civilian
factions within the same country
This
exclusion does not apply to past conflicts –
Therefore
events relating to artefacts of previous wars invasions etc are covered
by the ISN policy. (Land mines in Vietnam planted during the Vietnam/USA
conflict)
Acts
of terrorism eg. (Bomb planted in London by IRA).
Any
consequence of war (whether declared or not), invasion or civil war
which occurs within a maximum period of 14 days immediately following
the outbreak of war, invasion or civil war breaking out in insured
persons country of assignment.
This
means you have 14days to either leave, or arrange cover at an additional
premium.
HOW TO APPLY
